In its board meeting on June 23, 2014, Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) passed a unanimous resolution condemning the unlawful action of PEMRA in suspending the license of ARY News and imposing a heavy fine. The PBA demanded immediate restoration of ARY News and withdrawal of illegal PEMRA orders dated June 20, 2014. It was noted that this action was taken by PEMRA with mollified intent.
The board also condemned the highhandedness of Punjab Government in arresting Choudhry Tahir Javed, Secretary General, Cable Association of Pakistan and demanded his immediate release. It also called on PEMRA and Punjab Government to stop the harassment of Cable Operators.-PR
